If you ever need to find me on a Tuesday night, look no further than the pottery studio. This is where I’ve not only found a hobby, it's where I've found one of the most extraordinary communities within the gorgeous boundaries of Los Angeles.
As adults, we're often paralyzed by the fear of failure. We shy away from activities where we might not excel, unknowingly closing doors to some of the best experiences. Stepping beyond our comfort zones feels uncomfortable, yet carries an undeniable thrill. Hobbies represent one of life's most under-appreciated treasures. In an era where we're no longer simply defining ourselves (and worth) solely through careers and relationship status, we can embrace identities as amateur archers, pianists or horse girls. I may have given all the former a chance, but for me, pottery is the project that’s endured.
Sharing this feels more vulnerable than sharing my writing. Within the sanctuary of the studio, between exchanges of weekly gossip, I've discovered both solace and maybe a new identity as an amateur potter – patiently waiting to turn pro.

The pottery wheel offers plenty of room for both error and growth. While working on the wheel, the outside world slips away and quiets. When centering a few pounds of clay, the day and peripheral concerns fade away. Clay-covered hands make scrolling through your phone impossible. This is sacred offline time dedicated to tangible creation. After days consumed by staring at screens, crafting something physical becomes a gift unto itself. Working with my hands provides genuine purpose. They might still be incredibly soft, but we’ll say the clay is just really exfoliating.
Beyond the craft itself, pottery classes have introduced me to remarkable people I'm fortunate to call friends. The transition from studio acquaintances to real-world pals might take months, but once it happens, it feels inevitable. The dynamic resembles high school electives in a way. It’s like that one unusual class where unexpected friendships blossom outside your usual circles.
It's the essence of summer camp, preserved for adulthood. Over recent years, my pottery collection has lovingly invaded my living space. The time has come to share these creations more widely. If you have specific requests, I'm all ears and hope you enjoy my work available here.
If you have any requests, let me know! I’ll be back in the studio Tuesday evening and ready to create.
It means so much to me that you continued our hobby of pottery making. I’m honored that my artistry inspired yours!
